Quitting smoking
is one of the toughest things that you'll ever have to

have already taken the first step. Deciding that you want
to quit smoking. One of the more difficult ways to quit
is quitting cold turkey. Although tough, it seems to be
the very best way for some people.
When we talk
about quitting smoking cold turkey, all we are talking about is
an attempt to quit smoking all at once. Not trying to cut
down, or switch to a lighter cigarette first. It's a
difficult way to quit smoking but there are ways to increase
your chances of success.
Quitting Buddies:
One approach
that people try is to quit with a freind. This forces you
to keep a promise to quit to a friend as well as yourself.
Stay Away From Alcohol:
Most smokers
tend to smoke more when they are drinking alcohol. When
you are trying to quit it is a good idea to stay away from both
drinking and bars and parties where people will be doing a lot
of drinking.
Stay Out of Smoking
Situations:
I know that I
smoked quite a bit when I played poker. Other people have
other situations where they know that they feel like having a
cigarette more often than normal. While you're
quitting cold turkey you should try to avoid these types of
activities and situations.
Have An Alternative:
Many people find
that when they get a craving for a cigarette they can
substitute something more healthy. I used chewing gum to
help me. Some people tend to use food as a replacement
and end up gaining a lot of weight when they quit smoking so
gum or exercise is likely to be a better alternative.
If you are
trying to quit smoking cold turkey be sure to remember that it
is tough to do. If you mess up and have a cigarette, that
isn't a reason to give up. Never Quit Quitting.
